On the one hand I agree with you that she doesn't illicit the same sympathy from me as an imigrant who was struggling with the culture clash would. On the other hand this has little to do with the logic underlying the issue. "BTW, one of the articles I read said that she wore heavy mascara. Made me chuckle." Women who cover use beauty products. They just don't show their beauty to attract anyone's attention but the hubby. This is not unusual at all.
