Eric, RE: It's just the ratio of people collecting vs who's paying in that has me greatly concerned. Me, too. And that's why I'd propose two things. First, I'd raise the age. We're living a lot longer than when Social Security first came into existence, it stands to reason that we should have to wait longer to start collecting. Second, I'd put in a means test. There is absolutely no reason why I should be able to collect Social Security if my financial status stands is unchanged from its current status when I retire. I wouldn't need Social Security, so I shouldn't get it.
