Enigma, thanks for asking. You guessed it right in that I am an Asian Indian by birth and now a US citizen. I am a non-Muslim, grew up with Muslim friends. My best friends are Muslims and they live in India. What very few people are aware of is that India is the second largest Muslim country in the world next to Indonesia. The Osama brand of Muslim fundamentalism is trying to find some safe haven in the Asian countries such as Phillipines (Abu Sayyaf), Indonesia, Malaysia and off course Pakistan. These are countries where the Muslim sentiment runs high. However in India, this (OSama brand) will not take hold. There is a very strong sentiment amongst the non-Muslim population about violence. And a majority of the Muslims in India are against violence. I guess that is a osmotic effect from the non-violent and tolerant Buddhists and Hindus. We have had a good experience in living together and a horrific experience during the partition riots in 1947.

To give you an indication of the religious tolerance in India and the wonderful results it has produced, we go and get a convent education, we know the Bible, we can say "Our Father who art in heaven...." and that is why a fool like me always wonders what all this fuss is about the thing called Pledge of Allegience. What is wrong with the phrase "....one nation under God....?"

That is why I come on these threads to share views and experiences and not exchange barbs and ridicules. International affairs is my pet topic and for that I have started a World Affairs thread. Exercise your choice to post there if you may.
