Jay, you left off your list what Mugabe has learned from Pol Pot, but has not yet carried out. He might also have studied similar methods in Rwanda.
Zimbabwe is a zoo, not really involved in the WAT. I don't think Osama and co would find it an attractive hideout. "Hey, Osama! Why have you got that beard and those weird clothes and we just want to see if you have any gold hidden under those robes?"
On the other hand, they would be susceptible to bribes. US$1million for a hideout in rural Zimbabwe would swing it for a few of Osama's buddies. But neighbouring tribes would suggest that they too be paid or they'd have to disclose his whereabouts to CNN for a good fee.
Mugabe has totally failed to understand the benefits of being colonized by the right people. Colonization as practised by the Japanese in Nanking isn't good. But colonization as practised by the British wasn't too bad and made a lot of locals well off [Hong Kong for example].
Now, the USA is the global colonizer. They'll, like the British, be a good colonizer. I suspect that the UN will become redundant and the USA will form a federal system of global proportions which will replace the UN, Nato [or Nato will enlarge to become the global cop].
