As the AOL "Believer of the Month" on this thread so filled with bears in need of sound investment advice, I guess it falls to me to respond.

The correct quote is "giant sucking sound." And you may not have even realized what an inspired choice of words you made, since you borrowed a famous Ross Perot prediction of something that never actually came about.

To borrow another historic quote that I think more accurately describes our situation: The only thing AOL shareholders have to fear is AOL itself.

We've known all along that AOL would face competitors. The surprise to me is that some of them aren't farther along, and that there don't appear to be as many of them, as I might have expected based on the things I was reading one and two years ago.
