Jim, et.al.: I'm sure there'd be plenty of interest in WCOM's old MFS unit. And if sold it'd basically gut WCOM; at least as applied to local infrastructure. How so? Well...MFS (as a separate entity) was funded by the largest construction outfit on the planet, Peter Kewitt & Sons. MFS's mission, in the late '80's to early '90's, was to build out local infrastructure & Sonet rings in all tier 1 cities (ie. New York, Boston, Chicago, etc.). They also went into Europe and Asia, too.

And they accomplished this mission, thus becoming a very appealing target to WCOM in the mid to late '90's. An interesting aside where MFS is concerned. Less that a year before WCOM acquired MFS, MFS acquired a small but booming internet networking company based out of Northern Virginia. That company? UUNet.

This is all but a bit of history. Bottom line? I can't see WCOM letting go of MFS. If they do.....well...then it truly is game, set, match...stamp them dead and bury 'em...

IMHO, of course!

John~
