ChinuSFO, I would like to get into these issues much more than I do, but I can’t due to time constraints. Couple of quick points. To my knowledge, the Zionist movement, which lead eventually to the formation of the State of Israel, is and was primarily a Secular movement. I don’t think Israel is a country based on a religious principle to any such great extent. Those who think it is a Theocracy should check their numbers – even now Religious parties have a tiny minority in the Parliament (exercising an influence beyond their numbers, but still relatively small).
I became convinced that the Arabs may eventually be ready to accept Israel’s right to exist, but they didn’t get there yet. First, they would have to overcome the forces in their midst, which appeared as a result of several decades of radicalization of Islam. Muslims themselves, of course, are in the greatest danger of all from those forces – I have in mind those among them, who would rather NOT spend their lives under radical Islamic dictatorships. |
