Hi, Mister.
The Okidata printer didn't have its own uninstaller, but I uninstalled it in the way you suggested. I went to Circuit City (after Staples and Comp USA) and bought a HP printer recommended by a salesguy I trusted, for some reason. (The Brothers all had a built-in fax and scanner like yours, and were $300., and this is all I need and was $99.)
After the uninstall was complete, I got this message:
Some items could not be removed. You should manually remove items related to the application.
A Search for 'Okidata' says No items found.
A Search for 'printer' gets a lot of items, some of them labeled 'printer.bmp', and they look generic to me, not as though they're associated with the Okidata.
So do you think there is something else I should do?
BTW: I have three perfectly good Okidata cartridges that will just be wasted now. They've been opened and a couple of sheets printed with each one (during the time I was trying to figure out whether it was the printer or the cartridges that were causing my problem) but they cost about 35. each and I hate to throw them away. If someone with an Okidata printer would like to have them, I'll send them to them free. I could pay the mailing cost and we could agree that in exchange, the recipient would make a contribution of fifteen or twenty dollars to a charity we both like.
