If the jury and/or judge doesn't buy it, make an appeal for gubernatorial clemency. I know she can do that. I was trying to pin down what you meant by malice and how that relates to punishment, that's all. I'm not proposing we change the criminal justice system, only analyze it by getting outside it. I'm sorry, Neo. I keep trying to push you into abstract, theoretical discussions about criminal justice systems or whatever when it should be clear to me by now that you don't want to go there. I keep thinking it would be fun for you, too. I shouldn't try to shanghai you as I do to be my playmate.
