Czech Republic...

As Czechoslovakia... 2nd. Place in 1934 and 1962... then a bunch of "dnq" (or dn participate...)

all czechs are like me and see luck as a two way street. we know when we have it and know when we do not. both will happen in bunches tho

For me what makes Czechoslovakia so unique is that the elected a play writer as their president and then proceeded to this "friendly divorce" of their country... that stunned me and I wished more countries would follow such a remarkable example. Hey... if the differences are so huge, put it to the vote of the people and part as friends... in stead of warring like morons for years/centuries, where no one wins.

Oh and not to forget the best beer in the world... Pilsner Urquell... Wait a minute... I remember now... I had a very pretty green-eyed girlfriend from... hmmm, never mind, let's keep this strictly about soccer -g

They never seem to play to their potential.

How about....

Spain, Uruguay, Portugal, Hungary & England... Here is where I think that a World Cup played by individual teams could provide for better football... Call it "Intercontinental Cup"

Well, I guess if my aunt had wheels, she would be a bicycle

France... Juste Fontaine 1958 finished 4th place losing to the Germans 6 x 3. Fontaine and Raymond Kopa were great strikers in that cup... He held the record for most goals scored in a cup (13), until Gerd Müller surpassed him with 14 in 1974.

Since then, France evaporated.... and it seems that after 98 it is happening again.
