Chinu, If Adam Shapiro wants to make the effort to save children of any faction, more power to him, and I do not condone the threats against his parents. I think he is disillusioned to think that he will do any good, but it doesn't seem that he is doing any real harm. Being a Jew, some radical Palestinian is liable to execute him to please Allah, which according to all I have read, or heard, that is not the intent of Allah, especially since he is supposed to be the same God as worshipped by the Jews, and Christians.
