I am trying to get my daughter interested in choral music. She took Kodaly music lessons for 3 years when she was younger and she was very good. Then she picked up the flute. Now she wants to learn the sax as well, and she is getting one from her grandmother in August. But I signed her up for band and choral music for next year. She still isn't sure if she wants to do it. But the choral teacher in high school is AWFUL- so 8th grade will be her last year to have a decent choral teacher. I am hoping she will take advantage of it. But since she is such a good student and certainly drives herself plenty hard with her music (it was her idea to pick up the sax, and she want to learn the piccolo as well) I'm not going to be pushy.

There is nothing to compare with playing music. It is a totally different experience- at least for me. Sometimes when I am at the piano and I watch my fingers playing, I just marvel at how they seem to be running ahead of my consciousness.
