Defending the country is a conservative goal. Supporting the police is much more a conservative attitude than a liberal one. Only libertarians are alarmists about the police. As it stands, procedural constraints have become unreasonable for most law enforcement. We have bent way over, beyond Constitutional requirements, in order to safeguard the individual against government intrusion. Meanwhile, the citizenry is losing confidence in the criminal justice system and its ability to maintain public order.......
