Today, the U.S. plans to spend $380 Billion during FY 2003 on War Toys and staff. This is equivalent to the spending of the next 20 national war budgets combined! That's an astounding amount of money that we are spending. We wouldn't do it simply for defense, we are preparing to become an aggressor. I would think that we ought to be able to get by on double the spending of our nearest competitor. That would reduce our military spending by 80% or so. Miraculously, the damnable deficit that Bush is so proud of would disappear.

I'd say that we would be equally as safe as a nation at that level and vastly less threatening to the rest of the planet.
