Goldsnow, your mention of the term "European Jew" got me thinking in a different direction. Very interesting. I had always wondered why some Israeli leaders such as Abba Eban, Shimon Peres, Ben Elizer etc. have philosophies which are separate and distinct from those of people like Yitzak Shamir, Ariel Sharon and now Sharansky. It would also be interesting to see how the integration of the European, Asian, Ethiopian Jews etc, takes place in Israel in the long run.. Now they are all united in the face of a common enemy since its birth. I have watched with interest how East Pakistan and West Pakistan broke away after 25 years thereby proving that a nation based purely on a particular religious faith but consisting of different races and cultures would need something much more than just religious beliefs to hold them together.
