Bruce, I think honest shorters have to be commended bigtime.

But I think there was a big time "Smear and Fear" campaign in stocks like ESST and AGM. It involved not on Yahoo message boards and 5-6 seedy posters who took turns throughout the day and night, but they got the media involved too. ESST had a very questionable story in the Wall Street Journal and another piece by a so-called Independent Analyst, and AGM had that NY Times story with 19 glaring errors.

Judging by the 1000% build-up in the short position in AGM (one of the most stable earnings and high growth companies of all) that appears to be the case.
