In China, only during the early years of the Cultural Revolution (roughly between 1966-69), students, or even employees had to say the Pledge on daily basis, but those 3-4 years is an extremely short and abnormal period during the long Chinese history. So when a friend of mine (she has a daughter in elementary school here) told me that now her daughter has to say the pledge every morning, I was really SHOCKED. It really reminds me of the Cultural Revolution in China.
