Going back to 1945, the West Bank was to be an independent entity and King Abdullah violated the understanding of that agreement amongst members of the Arab League. He was assassinated for his troubles. The Palestinians were there on the ground, making a living no matter what they were called. When the Mandate was dissolved, they were still there, when Jordan or Egypt took control of them, they were still there. When the Westerners came and claimed the land on fragile religious stories, they were there. Indigenous people are free to choose what they want to call themslelves and how they wish to be ruled, surely over foreigners coming from another continent. len
