Similarly, the stock market cannot be engineered to go straight down. Rallies need to happen here and there to give Mr and Mrs Sixpack some hope every now and then - like carrots being held out in front of the horse, or rabbits always just out of reach of the greyhounds.

I believe that one of those bear rallies is upon us - we are now experiencing a standard retest of a local benchmark low.
