My mother had a stroke December 15, 1983. The hospital had me meet with a "counselor" to explain why they did the procedures that weren't needed and how to explain to Medicare why they were needed.

Then at 6pm December 24th I was told she'd be discharged at 8 am on the 26th. I offered the hospital cash up front to keep her a couple of more days until I could find a nursing home and they turned me down. Cash up front wasn't any good.
