Glen et. al., Today the Standard-Times (SE MASS. daily) had another very negative story on Biosafe's Fairhaven Project. I spoke to Bob Pragg at Liviakis (BSFE's IR firm) and then to the CEO Phil Strauss. The major revelations in the article were 1) that 9 of the disgruntled Fairhaven group testified before a state Senate hearing and got a committment from the cochair of the committee that she would do what she could to prevent Biosafe from obtaining its pending permit until further assurances are in hand that the odors and claimed health hazards have been eliminated. 2) the artcle repeated charges recently made in the Boston Herald claiming irregularities in Biosafe's reports to the SEC and hinting at unethical behavior associated with a small real estate deal in Fairhaven. The company seems to me to have strong arguments to counter each of these claims. They claim to have rigorously met all objections vis a vis health and environmental concerns. Meetings and inspection by DEP are continuing this and next week and they see no good reson for their Authorization to Operate to be withheld much longer. As for the claimed irregularities, the company explanation seems resonable and adequate, at least to me. Does anyone know why the Boston Herald is so viciously on Biosafe's case? I did ask what for me is the big question: Just or not, if the Fairhaven permit is denied or long delayed, is the comapny still viable. The answer was a definate yes. They are a long way from condeding the loss of Fairhaven, but their are other projects and contingency plans that should see the comapany through. Progress is clear in Mooretown Vermont and the company is hoping that all the hurdles will be cleared and revenues and begin this fall. I was on the fence, but for the time being have decided to maintain my position and hold. Has anyone ot ther decided differently?
