Brumar89, what is significant is that groups that were once hardliners, have suddenly changed their tune and are taking part in elections etc. It is like the Hamas or the Islamic Jihad saying OK, we renounce violence as a way of solving problems and we along with the PLO will negotiate with Israel. So it is significant indeed on two counts. Demonstrates that US is capable of adopting a foreign policy which can succeed and secondly, groups do turn around from violence to peace. Not the other way around as some suggest in the case of Arafat that he went from a Peace prize winner to a terrorist.

Do you seriously believe that Arafat has gone from advocating peace to being a terrorist?
