That point being that although the way it is administered is probably as carefully as it can be, given the realities, the risk to an innocent defendant surely disturbs those responsible for prosecutions much less than would the risk, if it were real, of paying for such a prosecution with their own lives, or fortunes.
Great idea there! Actually, it should be extended.

If a cop busts a suspected robber who is prosecuted and does 5 years and it turns out the guy is innocent, then the cop and the prosecutor (and maybe the jury?) should do 5 years.

And if a kidnapper does 30 years....

How long to do think any sort of law enforcement would continue to function under these rules?
