Well Marek, the trend is for the USA to abandon their cant about free trade, human rights and all that jazz they harangue others about and head for the Albanian/North Korean isolationist backward system. Hopefully they won't go far on that trend. Steel, farm protection, garlic, timber, sheep ....

Everyone benefits from computers and cellphones, even if indirectly. Almost everyone has a need to communicate and cellphones are a great way of talking to people. Cellphones don't do everything, but they help with a lot of things.
Higher commodity prices can't be ordained. Commodity prices are a function of production cost. OPEC tries to ordain commodity prices, but they can't [other than in the short term until competitors boost production]. Tariffs don't stimulate regional production; they shift regional production from sensible products and services to uneconomic ones which would be bought elsewhere but for artificial barriers to trade, thereby reducing efficiency and the economic position of the 'protected' country.
