Every time money is spent somebody somewhere benefits. That in its self means nothing. Many goals are worthwhile even if not fully attainable. The Dept. of Defense is one of the more important parts of our government. The fact that we are playing catch-up now only underscores the fact that defense was neglected during the Clinton years. Immigration has been one of the greatest failings of our government. Poor scrutiny and the lack of background checks have allowed untold numbers of people hostile to our country to enter. Everyday Americans, most of whom were born here now must contend with this after the fact. As they say, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", but all real problems must eventually be addressed.
