...don't you think that Bob is to be commended on this issue? If he was spreading disinformation there, he had the wisdom to stop. Who wants to take the time running a web site where people just gather to complain about the host?

I think it shows total lack of character to play fast and loose with the discussion boards instead of answering the criticisms honestly, openly and rationally. Bob could have easily turned the tide as the vast majority of posters and readers were his fans.

Instead, he chose the coward's way out and shut down the boards with no explanation of any kind. I don't find his behavior acceptable much less commendable.

Many financial sites have endured withering criticism in the last couple of years in the form of discussion boards and/or ugly emails from dissatisfied customers. I don't see them running and hiding as Bob did. I believe he's a coward who shows contempt for his own customers and for his colleagues but can't accept any criticism of himself.
