CME Announces New Market Data Feed, Including Order Book Information
CHICAGO, July 2, 2002 — Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) announced that it will launch the next generation of its market data feed for all CME market data in the third quarter. The new data feed will provide for increased capacity and will include order book information, either top of book or market depth. Additionally, CME will make historical data available on its Web site, www.cme.com.

CME’s new data feed is designed to be easily customized so that customers, data distributors and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can obtain only the data they want or need for their particular business purposes. CMS WebView plc (CMS) was chosen to provide development and technical assistance on the project.

The multi-channel data feed is delivered via a TCP/IP socket distribution platform and will allow customers to receive CME data from open outcry trading, GLOBEX® (top of book or market depth) and cash index data. The TCP/IP connection allows for considerable expansion of deliverable data and will allow for alternative connectivity methods in the future.

Additionally, ISVs will be able to receive New York Mercantile Exchange e-miNYSM energy futures data for integration with order entry software in order to trade the contracts on GLOBEX®—as they already are able to do with CME E-mini™ stock index data.

Separately, CME will make historical data available on its Web site, www.cme.com. Any individual or institution requesting end-of-day, tick data or time-and-sales data will be able to specify the contract, type of data, and time period desired, along with the media or format. The request will generate a data file to be delivered to the customer. In addition, the customer can request updates on a scheduled basis. Payment may be made via a secure e-commerce portion of the site.

The new feed is expected to become available for customer beta testing on July 22 and is anticipated to be in production by late August. Historical data on www.cme.com is expected to be available in mid-August.

The new services are intended to provide for institutional and data services customers what CME E-quotes™, first offered in March, have provided for individual customers—greater flexibility to fit their particular data needs. CME E-quotes provides direct real-time price data via the Internet and can be integrated with interactive charting and news services.
