Tranzyme Introduces TranzEmbryo Technology
Tranzyme (Birmingham, AL) launched a novel method to clone genes of interest into animal embryos. The technology permits the creation of genetically altered animals without the need to insert a needle into the embryo, which can be lethal to the developing fetus, according to the company. The TranzEmbryo™ technology is expected to broaden the types of animals that can be genetically altered, yet with attendant cost savings based on enhanced efficiency, claims the company.
