Lawyer in court over Enron theft claims
A lawyer has appeared in court charged with stealing more than £380,000 from Enron.
Marcus von Bock und Polach was charged with theft and false accounting in relation to a British-based Enron subsidiary, and another Enron firm.
He has been remanded on bail and is due to appear in court again on July 23.
The 37-year-old, of Aberdare Gardens, Hampstead, north London, is charged with stealing $141,510 (£94,000) from Enron Power Operations between March 30 and November 28 last year.
He is also charged with the theft of £287,374 from Enron Capital and Trade Resources International between December 31 last year and May 21 this year.
In addition, he faces three counts of false accounting, having allegedly submitted request forms for translation services on December 22 last year relating to £18,500.
He is also said to have put in two other forms on February 18 and May 13 this year amounting to £6,800.
All five charges are believed to be unrelated to Enron's recent demise.
Von Bock, dressed in a suit and tie, spoke only to confirm his name and address when he appeared at Bow Street magistrates, central London.
