Lizzie:
This does or does not include UUnet?
Strictly speaking I'd say it doesn't, but this IS unclear. I will say this, however. When MFS Intelenet (Network) was on its own and in its rapid build-out stage such customers as UUNet, AOL, etc., were scarfing down a goodly percentage of the infrastructure. And when MFS bought UUNet...whooo BOY, a huge percentage of build-out went their way. (I know because I use to work for MFS, and me and my people were always battling for facilities against those internal groups whose mandate was to support UUNet, et.al.)
So if someone bought MFS, and to a lesser extent Brooks, they'd have a built in large customer base which is probably the point of IDT's offer.
As for creditors...hmmmmm....I'd say $5 Billion isn't anywhere near enough. Especially when you juxtapose the remaining debt-load against a major reduction in cash flow, etc., caused by having sold a crown jewel. Bottom line? I can't see it happening.
Disclosure. I hold no position in WCOM at this time.
