Thanks Peter. I had a private note from Jim telling me about his post, too.
As I said to him, he's right, I have almost no faith in Fundamental Analysis, at this point. "Smiling bastards lying to you, everywhere you go." How can anyone believe anything coming out of a corporate, or government, mouth, these days. I have always been a skeptic and I have always detested liars and cheats, and my feelings are growing stronger.
I've analyzed my gold and US$ charts, today, but Sympatico's server won't allow me to upload to my site.
I'll be trying again, later.
FWIW, with July 2nd data, I have a Sell Signal on the Gold Daily chart. Both US$ charts are still Sell Signals, as well. The Gold vs US$ ratio, Daily chart is in a Hold Signal, just a hair away from a Sell Signal.
I have been keeping my very negative views of what I see as US Government manipulation of the media and the markets, mostly to myself, but I think they are playing a very dangerous game.
We know that individuals can go bankrupt, and we know that small companies can go bankrupt, and we've found out large companies can go bankrupt, and we know that small countries can go bankrupt.
If they continue with their misguided policies, we may find out if an arrogant, large country can go bankrupt.
In the 30's, the system collapsed because there was a run on the banks. Everyone wanted their money out.
Lately, I've been wondering if our modern version of a run on the banks would be a run on the mutual funds. What if everyone decides they want their money out?
I'm still holding my gold stock positions. That 20 week MA at $308.41 is critical. I haven't decided yet whether to unload. I may just let the money ride for the rest of the summer, though I'll likely do what the charts suggest to me.
I am disturbed by the obvious market manipulation we're all seeing. If a lot of money is being put into this market for reasons other than making a profit, we may all be in trouble. Technical Analysis is designed to find or anticipate trends. If those trends aren't based on making money, then the T/A won't find investment opportunities that will make money.
This is a very worrisome market.
