Funny you should bring that up--I was gong to post about it. I've fallen twice for propaganda. Once it was some minister who showed me pictures of starving children as I nursed Ammo until, sobbing loudly, I rushed to the phone and committed myself to a monthly check to save the children. And the other was when Meryl Streep, whom I adore, asked me for money to mount a defense against the terrible apple grower and how could I turn her down? Then I watched all the "rest of the story" as it emerged and vowed never to give money to anything again, no matter who the spokesperson is. Oh yeah-then there was the maid to whom I gave several hundred dollars to get her furniture out of hock. She promised to work it off and -surprise, surprise! I never saw her again. And then --there was that pitifully thin young boy at my door who needed only 20.00 to help pay for a motel room for the night for his family and could he do some work? Of course I gave him the money... But NEXT time---no way! Nobody's getting anything!! And I believe NOTHING!!!
