syl, interesting comments from you on Bush.

I blame him for terrorism and the escalation in the Middle East by giving the green light to Sharon to suppress even more an already suppressed and hopeless population

That is the problem. The green light is given to someone who the Palestinians already accuse of being a mass murderer from several years back.
His message to the people is to simply stop terrorist acts (suicide bombings). That is not good enough.

He needs to give the Palestinians some sort of moral victory. Don't know how he does it but the current approach is definately not it. To say..stop terrorism or else is simply another way of demanding surrender. That is not going to work..if it does, it will be short term. The hatred of the US and Israel will remain in that region.
He is not thinking long term...but maybe that is no big surprise.

Bush can support Israel but there has got to be a better way to do this. IMHO, he and Sharon are putting the Israeli people in more danger. Weaponry used in terrorist acts are going to get more sophisticated...that is my fear. It is better to pressure both sides right now so some worse fate for the people of that region is avoided. I just fear that the US will not be able to stop some groups from getting biological/chemical or even nuclear weapons. That is why it is better to show that the US is not biased. What will this accomplish----makes it harder for terrorist groups to recruit intelligent people. Right now, I bet the educated public hates Israel and America. That is the problem as I see it. Uneducated terrorists can be caught a lot easier and will not be able to develop sophisticated weapons.

As I see it, the only hope is if Sharon loses the next election; Maybe Sharon being booted out will make the palestinians a lot more willing to talk about real peace. When Bush is voted out, that will probably be the start of the end the hatred of the US in that region.
Same goes for Arafat..hope they boot him out when their elections are held and allow some educated/intelligent to lead the people. Have see enough interviews of the PLO group to see that all of them are far more qualified than Arafat.

That is my peace plan.

I blame him for acting religious yet killing scores of innocent people

Yea, this starting to bug me. Too many innocents are being killed in Afganistan..it just struck after the latest bombing during that Afgan wedding. Something is wrong here.
Unfortunately it makes the news in the US for a day and is then forgotten. I believe European/Asians are probably getting a little upset about how these people get killed with no consequences for the US. That is probably very threatening to them.
I think the Europeans keep a tally of the number of innocents killed in Afgan...and I bet they are higher than the lives lost in the twin towers. This is bad "karma" for the US.

jmho.
