You might want to look at just about any war & compare the # of friendly fire incidents relative to the scale of each war........ I believe you will find that the Gulf war & Afghanistan has a fairly low incident rate. No one is perfect & mistakes will happen in the heat of battle (or in the case of the wedding..... when you perceive you are being fired upon)...... it's either you or them who are going to die........ & no doubt some folks might shoot first & ask questions later under such circumstances.

IMO, friendly fire incidents were far more common prior to the digitization of our weapons & systems (although still far from perfection). I think that as time passes, details of these incidents will show most to be genuinely unfortunate accidents/mistakes........ & as in the past, considered another sad part of waging war.

IMO, it's much easier for folks like us to sit in our chairs & demand unrealistic standards......... since we know we would never make any mistakes..... or act in such an atrocious manner. As Monday morning QB's, we are adept at drawing conclusions without any expertise, personal experience to draw from, or a complete set of facts to ponder.
