Patron, I think you have it Back-A$$ward. Two members of the SEC recused themselves because of past ties with Ernst & Young. This was an entirely proper thing to do.

The problem arose because two of the five seats on the Commission are empty. And why is that, do you suppose? My guess -- and it's just that, a guess, albeit an experienced if not "educated" one -- is that there are two SEC seats open because our wonderful elected officials in Congress are too busy grandstanding at Enron hearings to do any substantive work -- like acting on appointments to federal commissions, the judiciary, etc.
