LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Two people were dead and at least two others were wounded Thursday at Los Angeles International Airport after a shooting at the ticket counter for El Al Airlines, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The gunman was one of those killed. He was shot by El Al security personnel, said Alex Baez of the LAPD.

The Tom Bradley International Terminal was shut down, Baez said, and everyone inside was evacuated. Hundreds were seen streaming out of the terminal and traffic was stopped outside.

Police cars, ambulances, and fire engines lined the road.
