But after that long post, I'm betting that if I looked into it, I would find that the Virginia legisature included prayer at some point in their deliberations, just as both houses of Congress today include prayer in their official activities.

There is no coercion when you are allowed without any danger of state approbation to stand silent while others around you utter the words "under God." That is not coercion. That is freedom of choice for both you and your neighbor, you who do not want to say the words and she who does. You both get what you want. Perfect freedom.
