E, in most schools that I have visited, the pledge of allegiance is read over a loud speaker after morning announcements. The students are directed to stand if they choose, put their hand on their heart if they choose and to recite the pledge aloud if they choose. The only requirement is that all students must keep silent during the announcements and the pledge to our flag.

If you ever visit a poorly run J.H. during this time, you would be embarrassed to see some students deliberately being disruptive. And, many teachers don't bother to stop this disruption because they don't want the hassle.

I would like to hope that one day these students learn how valuable their freedom is...and whether they say the words aloud, and with or without the words 'under god', that they will learn the importance of those words as we all do.
