I totally disagree with you. I think ideas exist independently of the people who thought them up. My posts have their own existence apart from me. When the ideas leave my head, and find their own life on the internet, who I am ceases to matter. ( except of course to people like you who cannot separate ideas from people) What other people who read them create in their own minds out of the words on the net, is all that is important.
MLK may have been a religious man. But once his actions left him (so to speak) and imprinted themselves on history, who he was ceases to matter in some sense, and what other people take away from his record, and his actions, is all that is important. If you are very religious, and through prayer come upon a gravitational theory, and publish that theory, the fact that you were religious may cease to matter. All that will matter, to the people who read and use your theory, is the idea itself- not the genesis of the idea- which will only be of interest to scientific historians and people who like to read biography. |
