Re: "There is a worldwide corruption crisis. That is the clear message from the year 2001 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), which reflects the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist among public officials and politicians.
The way I see it is that so long as the extent of corruption/criminality is relatively small and affects only a marginal sector of capitalism the concept of "corruption" makes sense... However, when 50% to 75% of global finance, transnationals, commodities, real estate, you name it, feeds upon dirty/laundered money then "corruption" becomes the normal way! And, ironically, it's then up to the remaining 25/50% of clean businesses/industries to... catch up with the "corrupted" mainstream. Japan is an obvious case in point:

More generally, deviance can't be a feature of more than 50% of a given society/group/collectivity for if, say, 60% of a constituency is labelled "deviant" then deviance is the norm! Take Japan: is corporate Japan a network of zaibatsus controlled by organized crime? Gosh, NO! According to the mainsream media, Japan --like most of Asia-- merely indulges "crony capitalism"....
