Yes, let's look at the example of the Khobar Towers bombing. The Saudis refused to cooperate with the FBI in any way, wouldn't let any Americans interview the witnesses or suspect, and quietly killed a few guys -- but we couldn't really say if they were guilty or not. The only reason you didn't hear about this was our habit of alliance with our buddies the Saudis.

That is why they have turned around and moved into US' camp in the war on terrorism: self preservation.

I have a question for you, if the Saudis are in our camp, why have we been forbidden to use our airbases in the Kingdom? Why are we building a duplicate air command center in Qattar?

Answer: the Saudis are not in our camp at all. They continue to play a double game. They sweettalk us, make nice-nice to Saddam Hussein (did you see the reports from the Arab League meeting?), and continue to promote radical Wahhabi Islam through all their mosques -- while trying their damndest to channel discontent through Islamism at an external enemy. This is why they need the Israeli/Pal conflict. This is why their papers print Nazi-level vitriolic anti-Semitism on a daily basis.

Have you ever seen the site www.memri.org? They publish very accurate translations from the Arab press. Please do have a look round that site if you are unfamiliar with what passes for normal in the Arab world.
