Goldsnow, the point is that US, who goes around championing the cause of democracy to the entire world, will have to react to Arafat's reelection. Palestine elections will be held under the auspices of World observers. Hence they will be free and fair, that is if Israel does not meddle in them.

If Arafat wins, do you still think that Britain and the world community will stand by and let loose Israel and US to have their way? Why? What is the logic. I can understand US's stand on other world issues. But for the US to demand a negation of the will of the people of Palestine while at the same time to continue to deal with dictators of other countries such as General Musharraf and others, would be a mockery of the Bush administartion's policy on the world stage. Isn't it.

After all, is it Bush trying to impose the same way that he himself came into office, by casting all the democratic norms by the wayside and having 5 justices decide for him? Bush may steal the elections in the US. But he cannot do so with Palestine since this is the international arena.
