I think that status-quo in the Middle East, which benefits Saddam and Assad (only) It is no good for Jordan and Egypt that can be easily destabilised by Palestinian "fringe" groups and "intifada"...As for Saudis I think USA already concluded that US national interests dictate a need for disaassociation from that country (in favor of Russia (oil), and geo-political shift of isolating the most Absurd Regime (that counts) on this planet...
I fully expect Saddam being gone by next Spring...The only reason that this Region understand and respect is force...Bush should have learn this lesson by now
