I would agree with you EXCEPT for the fact that the P/E is so low. From Yahoo, MSFT's PE is 60.5, Texas Inst. is 650 (working off a losing quarter within past year, I think), Dell is 41.65, CPQ is 25.5, Intel is 22.56 but really 21.2 since they don't have today's quarter in yet. These are all trailing, based on prev. four quarters, it's really much lower than that if you use any kind of reasonable projection, even the pessimists expect $4.00 for FY 97 with $2.02 in the first six months and the best part of the year ahead of them. AMD and Cyrix have neither the fab capacity nor are they having the kind of first tier marketing success that would make a meaningful dent in Intel -- which is not to say that the market share that they do achieve may not be enought to make their business much more successful.
