It's clear why we disagree rather regularly, c. I thought the Said review of Lewis' work was well written, well argued, and exactly right. As for the argument about the ME's taste for Western music, he meant classical and his evidence was quite strong. His own background, the number of orchestras around, etc. Perhaps you know something he does not.

As for Stanley Fish, he's an acquired taste. I found the article interesting but Fish has a tendency to wander off into places you can't figure out why. I keep reading thinking he'll establish a link. This time he didn't.

But Harper's is one of the few remaining magazines to be critical in these hyper patriotic times. Bless it.
