no one will deny that in recent times many republicans and pseudo-conservatives have jumped on the free trade bandwagon. i have never denied this. i just don't believe them to be true conservatives in the traditional sense.

i am the one who has posted tons of references which show that traditional conservatives used to be against free trade, and only in recent decades have republicans perverted conservatism by adopting a free trade stance. and it is no surprise why. corporations rule america today. politicians need corporate contributions to get re-elected. that is why you see many major political candidates pandering to big business and backing free trade deals, whether democrat or republican, liberal or conservative. the power of corporate special interests is simply too great to resist.
