oh my, i hope we don't have to get in an argument about the definition of a depression. i'm sure this is not the official definition, but to me a depression is a severe and prolonged economic downturn. it started with the asian contagion in 1997-1998, and has spread around the world. it still has not run its course, even though many people will try to argue that many of those latin american, asian, and the russian economies are on the road to recovery.

recoveries in those countries are simply due to hundreds of billions in imf bailouts! you give a country fifty or a hundred billion dollars and i'm sure they can pretend to pull themselves out of a depression as well. only now the depression has hit the country that has been financing all these bailouts.

who is going to bail out the bailer?
