On a geopolitical level, you're quite right, of course. Torture in Iraq is irrelevant.

However, knocking over Iraq is a twofer, imho. Call me a big softie if you will, but I like the idea of ending the kind of unbelievable human rights abuses in which Saddam's regime is engaged. And we get the oil, too. What's not to like?
