Lucent signs 5-year, $50 mln deal with BT
MURRAY HILL, N.J., July 8 (Reuters) - Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU - News) said on Monday it will provide network support and services for British telephone company BT Group Plc (London:BT.L - News) under a five-year contract potentially worth more than $50 million.
Lucent, based in Murray Hill, New Jersey, said it will provide support for BT's network, including Internet Protocol, voice and data switching elements and BT's emergency services network.
The deal is not a traditional fixed price contract, but instead allows the companies to share risk, cost and benefits, a Lucent spokesman said.
Earlier this year, BT and Lucent announced the implementation of a high-capacity optical network designed to support BT's growing international requirements and expansion into the provisioning and services sector.
Lucent shares were off 4 cents, or 2.2 percent, at $1.78 in late morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange. |
