The solar cycle is pointing up, and Mars usually lifts the market when it is in Cancer. Thus, we will likely see higher prices into August. Short-term traders should take advantage of a decline that will begin on the 3rd by going short. Close out the positions after the holiday.

As readers know, the degree area from 14° to 23° of the mutable signs is key in the first-trade charts of many technology stocks. The big three software stocks-Microsoft, Oracle, and Intuit-have their Suns at 2° to 23° Pisces. It is also curious to note that their Midheavens are all at 11° Aquarius, the degree of Neptune's transit. Saturn will square their Suns this month, so the combination of Saturn and Neptune will likely drive the stocks down. The good news is that this should be the last hit to the technology sector for a few months.

Jupiter will sail into Leo next month. During its transit, it will trine Pluto in Sagittarius. There is a connection to inflation-hedge stocks. Nixon closed the gold window on August 15, 1971, taking the United States completely off the gold standard. The Sun was in Leo, and Neptune had just entered fiery Sagittarius. Jupiter was only 2 degrees behind Neptune, about to catch up and make an inflationary conjunction, one of three conjunctions. This act set off the greatest inflation of the century. Here is another example of the power of these signs. On January 10, 1901, oil was discovered in the United States at Spindletop. Jupiter, two planets, Chiron, and the Node were all in Sagittarius. Neptune was exactly opposite Jupiter. This commodity, like all commodities, moves up with inflation.

Gold stocks tend to be fire entities. Placer Dome (PDG-8/13/87) has six planets in fire signs and will likely move higher. Newmont Mining (NEM-1/27/40) has four planets and the Ascendant in fire and will also benefit from Jupiter and Pluto.

There are other groups of stocks that have historically benefited from inflationary psychology. Among these groups are energy, REITs, gold, and gaming. Note that gold was the top-performing group in 2001. REITs did very well in 2000 while most groups fell. Let's look at gaming. Gaming stocks soared in the inflationary seventies because each unit of currency became worth less as more dollars were issued. With inflation and interest rates soaring, the only way to keep even was to take greater risks. Or, people tended to gamble more because the economic climate encouraged it. Although this period is not comparable in magnitude to the 1970s, Jupiter and Pluto in fire will likely ignite these stocks.

First, we accumulate the first-trade charts of ten gaming stocks into one file. Then we scan these charts to determine the shared degree areas for this group of horoscopes. When these zodiacal degrees are transited, the group of stocks react. Looking at all the points in this group, including planets, angles, and the node, we see that Capricorn is the most-tenanted sign. Looking further, we see that it is the Midheaven that is most frequently in Capricorn, as is Jupiter. Turning to the Moon, we discover that Leo is the most frequent Moon sign. Cancer ranks second. The most frequent Sun-Signs are Aquarius and Leo.

Saturn and the Ascendant are most frequently in Aries. Cranking up our planetary microscope, we find that the 8° of the cardinal signs is the most frequently inhabited by points and planets.

With this information, we can come to some assumptions as to how these stocks react to transits. Jupiter moving into Leo will aspect many of the Suns and Moons. Pluto will sextile and trine many of these planets. Gtech Holdings (GTK-7/22/92) will benefit. This company operates computerized online lottery systems. GTK also supplies equipment to the industry. Jupiter will sail over the 29° Cancer Sun and then on to Venus and Mercury in Leo in addition to the progressed Sun at 10° Leo. The 11° Gemini MC will be sextiled, and the late Aries Moon will be trined.

Dover Downs (DVD-10/4/96) will also be favorably aspected. The company owns and operates entertainment complexes that feature auto racing, pari-mutuel wagering on simulcast horse races, and video lottery machines. Jupiter's transit through Leo will trine Pluto and Saturn first, and then move over the Mars and the MC. Natal Uranus, at 1° Aquarius, will be opposed. The Sun at 11° Libra will be sextiled.

Looking at the longer-term and completing our analysis of the gaming stocks, Saturn moving into Cancer will likely depress these stocks because it will oppose a majority of the Midheavens and Jupiters. Saturn will also square the many Aries Saturns and Ascendants. So sell these before the taskmaster enters the sign of the crab. For example, Harrah's Entertainment (HET-2/8/90) has six planets and the Midheaven in Capricorn and Jupiter in Cancer as well as an Aries Ascendant. This company operates casinos under the Harrahs, Showboat, and Rio brands. Its stock will likely drop more than the rest of the group. This is also true of International Game Technology (IGT-1/31/91). The MC, Node, and four planets are in Capricorn, so it too will likely sink under Saturn's weight.
